Understanding the Roulette Betting Grid
In order to play a good game of real money Roulette it is important to understand not just how the wheel works but also how the roulette betting system works. The betting system is laid out on a grid like table next to the wheel and bets are placed on the grid, by clicking on the area that the player wants to place his bet. The grid is made up of three columns and twelve rows which are the numbers 1-36 of the wheel. The colors are red and black and are randomly assigned to the numbers just as they are randomly placed around the wheel. At the top of the columns is a green zero or if an American Roulette game is being played there are two lots of zeros, a single zero "0" and a double zero "00". Any bet placed on any of these squares is known as an inside bet as it is inside the main betting grid. Around the outside of the inner betting grid are squares depicting additional options for bets. These roulette bets are known as outside bets and have lower odds. The bets are placed on the probability of the ball landing on one of the red or black colors, on even or odd numbers on low numbers 1-18 or high numbers 19-36. There is also the option of betting on a group of dozen, these are depicted as the first twelve, second twelve and third twelve. It is important to take time to familiarize yourself with the betting grid before proceeding to place real money roulette bets.
How the Roulette Odds Work
The Roulette odds are directly related to the type of bet that is made. The higher odds are given to the bets that have a lower probability of winning. For example a single number bet which is a bet on a single number coming up pays out the highest odds at 35:1. So for every dollar bet, the player can win a potential $36 if the ball lands on his number. The more numbers that the player bets on the lower the odds are. A Split of two number bet pays odds of 17:1 which is really a two in thirty seven chance of the ball landing on one of the players chosen numbers. And so it goes on, a street or three number bet pays odds of 11:1. A Street bet is a bet on a row of three numbers chosen from the inner grid. A four number bet or corner bet pays odds of 8:1, to place this bet, the player clicks on the point that the squares of all four numbers meet. A six number bet which is basically a bet on two streets pays odds of 6:1, so for every dollar bet, if one of the six number bet numbers comes up, the payout is $7. From then on the odds drop drastically as the player then starts to bet on a larger quantity of numbers, he can bet on 12 numbers together, known as a column bet or on the 1st twelve, second twelve and so on, these bets pay odds of 2:1. The lowest odds are given for the bets that cover eighteen numbers, these are all outside bets and are the bets on any odd number, or even number, red, black or high or low numbers coming up. The high numbers are considered to be the numbers from 19-36 and the low numbers are considered to be 1-18. All of these bets only pay odds of 1:1. It is best when playing real money Roulette to place a mix of bets in one game so that you can take advantage of more than one option of odds, such as a bet on a single number and also a bet on twelve or eighteen numbers.
