Real Money Roulette is Easy

Roulette is a game that is suited to any type of player and can be played by placing small or large bets. Anyone can play roulette and there are no restrictions. Real money roulette is thrilling and quick; your fortune can be made or lost in a matter of minutes. Roulette is a game of pure luck but also involves sensible betting based on the resources available to you.

Understanding the Roulette Betting Grid

When playing roulette for real money, it is important to understand the betting system and how the game works. Roulette is made up of a wheel and a betting grid. The betting grid is made up of 36 numbered spaces that correspond to the 36 numbers which are randomly placed around the wheel in the colored black and red pockets. There is also a square for the zero or double-zero, depending on which variation of Roulette is being played. American Roulette has the addition of two zeros in its wheel and grid and European Roulette has just one zero. The zeros are marked in green to be easily identifiable. Surrounding these 36 numbers and zeros on the grid are little sections where multiple bets can be placed. These bets are known as outside bets as they are bets placed outside of the 36-numbered grid.

Inside and Outside Roulette Bets

These outside bets tend to give the lowest odds in a game, usually 2:1 and 1:1. The sections are labeled as follows: 1st 12, 2nd 12, 3rd 12, even, odd, black, red, 1-18, 19-36. These all correspond to the bets that can be placed for example on the first twelve column - this means, in simple terms, that you are betting on the chance of the ball landing on one of those twelve numbers. Since there are plenty of chances of the ball landing on one of these numbers, almost 1 in 3, the odds are 2:1. Where there is a one-in-two chance of the ball landing on a chosen bet, such as an even or odd number, then the odds are even less at 1:1. Aside from these outside bets, there is what is known as the inside bets. The inside bets are any bets placed inside the 36-numbered betting grid and also include the zero or zeros depending on what version of Roulette you are playing. If you place a single bet on a single number, by clicking on that number, you are reducing your chances of winning, but if you do win your odds are much higher at 35:1 as the probability of getting that one single number is much lower.

Roulette Betting Odds and Placing Bets

There are a number of different types of Roulette bets that can be placed as described above. These different types of bets pay out different roulette odds mainly dependent on how many numbers have been betted on with one chip. A player can choose the size of his chip at the beginning of the game by clicking on the chip size. He is also able to place more than one chip on a square per bet. A player is also allowed to place more than one bet in any one game. In other words, a player can place a single number bet and also an outside bet, giving him a number of chances to win. Obviously, the payouts correspond to the separate bets: if he placed a bet on the 7 coming up and also placed a bet on an odd number coming up, and 7 did in fact come up, he would win on both accounts. Therefore he would gain the odds of 35:1 and 1:1 so if his chip size was $1 he would win $35 +$1+$1+$1 which is $38.

The Different Real Money Roulette Bets

The bets that can be placed are generally grouped and described as follows:
  • A single bet - this is a bet on a single number by itself and pays odds of 35:1
  • A Split or two number bet - this is a bet on one of two numbers coming up and to place the bet, the player moves a chip with his mouse to the line between the two numbered boxes. The payout for this type of bet is usually 17:1.
  • The Street or three number bet- this is a bet on three numbers in a row, and pays out odds of 11:1.
  • The Four number bet - this is a bet on four numbers that are grouped together and the chip is placed on the middle point between all four boxes. This bet pays odds of 8:1.
  • A Six number bet or two streets is on six numbers grouped together and pays out odds of 5:1. In addition to these there are also the column bets which are also inside bets and pay out 2:1. All the other bets that are possible are outside bets and have been mentioned before.

    The Roulette Wheel

The final aspect of Roulette that needs to be understood is the actual spinning of the roulette wheel. Once the bets have been successfully placed, then all that is left is for the wheel to be spun. The roulette wheel is set in motion by clicking on the spin button, usually clockwise, and the ball is sent spinning in the opposite direction: where the ball comes to land is the winning number. When playing online Roulette it must be remembered that the wheel is controlled by a random number generator (RNG) and there is no chance of any cheating or weighting of the wheel. Also, make sure the real money roulette casino you play at is cerified by eCOGRA, the watchdog agency of the online casino gambling industry; then you can be assured of a fair, thrilling and fun game of roulette for real money.
